Council of Directors

The Council is the governing body of the CIAP and is responsible for managing the business and affairs of the CIAP. Its role is essentially strategic, while day-to-day management of the organisation is delegated to the Chief Executive. In summary, the Council is responsible for:

  • Determining the CIAP’s vision, values and goals
  • Determining the CIAP’s strategic objectives and strategic policies
  • Setting the pace for the CIAP’s current operations and future development
  • Ensuring that the CIAP’s organisational structure and capability are appropriate for implementing the chosen strategies
  • Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of strategies, policies and business plans
  • Ensuring that internal controls are effective
  • Ensuring accountability to members.

Composition of Council


The Council of Directors comprises a maximum of Seven (7) directors. They are nominated by the chairman of the CIAP Trust


Council Meetings

The council meets five times a year and the meeting agendas are prepared by the President.  In preparing the agenda, the President considers:

  1. The advice of an informal group comprised of the President, Deputy President, Immediate Past President, and other Council members who wish to take part. The group reviews recent Council activities and discussions, checks on action points and discusses the agenda for future meetings.  It has no decision making powers.
  2. Any items brought forward by the chairs of the five standing committees
  3. The council standard work programme, available to members on the Council papers page.
  4. A report of each council meeting is made available to members on the Council papers page.
